- Broom finish: The most common and least expensive concrete finish. A steel trowel smooth-down followed by a light broom drag for texture. Durable and functional, but plain. A lot of Peninsula driveways installed in the 1980s and 90s are broom finish — it’s what most people think of when they think “standard concrete.”
- Exposed aggregate: More labor-intensive than broom finish, which is reflected in cost. Visually richer, better natural slip resistance, and ages better than a smooth troweled surface. A good middle ground between plain and decorative.
